I made a post about landrace sunchokes, including sources where to buy the tubers or seeds. These are sunflowers with small high-oil seeds and edible roots. Mine grow 10-12 feet tall but there are dwarf varieties half that size. They put out many palm-sized flowers that basically turn into living birdfeeders in late summer. Note that sunchokes are self-sterile so you need either seeds, landrace tubers, or a plot with lots of diverse cultivars in order for them to set seed. Mine are mixed landrace that rain seed everywhere and have birds all over them. :D If you have a large sunny place, these are a great choice for a native wildflower to attract birds. Oh, and they're droughtproof.
